Trends we've seen

What's changed this year? What can we learn from the leading reporters? And where is there still scope for improvement?

  • Creating an engaging online experience - the best reporters have provided engaging reports, featuring clear visual design and information architecture, and offering well thought through user journeys
  • Content management - has improved, with many reporters using information architecture, accordions, anchor links and in-page tabbing effectively
  • Functionality - while the FTSE 100 is beginning to reconsider the functionality on offer, the best reporters combine effective communication with appropriate levels of functionality
  • Media - reporters are slowly starting to make better use of the potential of the online medium, linking to social media sites and integrating executive and case study video, although there remains a huge amount of room for improvement
  • Mobile - a few reporters have started to reconsider how people access their reports and provided alternative formats for mobile devices
  • Thinking digital - too many reporters are still simply translating the printed report online, without interpreting the content for the medium, resulting in poor user experiences
